Choosing the right wood for your home is extremely important; you will want your new floor to reflect the design and functionality of the space.  Primarily you want the wood you choose to be your taste and style.  You will need to think about the location of the floor as this could eliminate certain species and favour others. Other factors to consider are under floor heating and the amount of traffic the floor will receive. You may also want to consider the sourcing and supplying of the wood. Today we often hear the term “floor miles,” in relation to how far your timber has travelled. Timber harvested from responsibly managed forests that comply with FSC and PEFC certification schemes are readily available.  In addition you have the option of reclaimed wood and bamboo. There are many considerations, not forgetting the most important one, your budget.
